Camp Fire Circle Design Competition.

This is open to all Basildon Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Explorers, Network, Leaders and Helpers.

We are going to refurbish/rebuild the camp fire circle. Whilst the Campsite Crew have some ideas of what they would do, we want you to submit your design suggestions.

In a nutshell, the seating arrangements in the campfire circle are in need of some work to bring them back up to standard. However, on our bigger camping occasions, there is not really enough seating for everyone there. It is time for a change.

This is what we want.

The size cannot be increased, therefore we have to squeeze in another row of seats from the current 3 rows to 4 rows.

At present, the shape of the seats around the circle is rather irregular. We would like it to be round or a regular shape - as many sides as you like.

The fire base is near but not exactly in the middle of the arena. It should be moved to the middle.

Currently there is no easy access for wheelchair or walking-aid visitors. There should be a ramp at the main entrance/exit and also for the performers entrance/exit next to the 'stage'.

There is space on the side furthest from the car park for people that need special seats that they  bring with them. This should be reserved for those people and wheelchair users.

The seats should be big enough for people to sit on comfortably without taking up so much space that there is no room for a performance arena.

And now it is over to you. We are looking for a picture of what you have in mind. You can specify sizes of seats and what is used in their construction or you can leave that bit to the Crew.

The winning design will be the design that we work to when we redo the campfire circle and we will install a plaque with the winners name and group etc.

We want to start work on this project over the Autumn/Winter months so that we can get it ready for the 2017 camping season. This means that you have to submit your ideas by the end of August.

All entries will be judged by the Campsite Management Committee and they will choose the winning design.

Don't forget to put your name and your group details on the back of your design. If you are under 18, please get your mum or dad to put contact details, else put your own.
